This will be brief. It's late. I'm tired.
We got in at 1 am this morning thanks to a blown tire on I-75 and the loss of over 2 hours while we tried to buy a new one on a Sunday late afternoon.
The meeting hall at the Expo Center seems smaller than normal, but is a nice venue.
The music: based on today, I'd say it was the best Convention music I've ever heard. Truly inspiring and worshipful.
The ballet dancer was amazing and the dance fit the praise music wonderfully. A picture of grace.
Two sermons made this day: Francis Chan and David Platt. Unbelievable. Convicting. Platt's sermon made you feel like you had been pinned down under a spotlight before the Lord and there was nowhere else to run. I do not think I'll ever be the same after that message.
Alvin Reid gave a powerful message but, oddly, seemed a bit spastic at points. Nonetheless, convicting and prophetic.
I like Fred Luter. I think he's an amazing preacher. But...well, I'm sure the problem was me.
Mike Huckabee. At the pastor's conference. At...the...pastor's...conference.
The bookstore at Southern Seminary is, hands down, without a doubt, the best bookstore I have ever stepped foot in. I love my wife for bringing her Sunday School lesson with her in anticipation of me spending an hour in that store.
Glad to see the IX Marks guys have a booth this year and, even better, that they had a "IX Marks at the SBC" gathering tonight that started at 9:30 (due to the messages going a bit long in the convention hall.) Dever was vintage Dever in his remarks and it was great to hear him speak.
Great to see my friend Brian Sandifer.
Great to see my friend Tom McClendon.
Great to see my friend Otis Jones.
Tomorrow, Founder's Breakfast, 6:30 a.m. Danny Akin speaking...but then, Danny seems to be speaking everywhere this year. That's not a complaint. He ought to be commended for the Great Commission Resurgence Axioms...especially #8 (sorry Morris Chapman)!
More tomorrow night if I'm up for it. :-)
