Re: Memaw and Mt. Everest: A Cautionary Tale and Fascinating Family Memory
Way to go Diane! The lovely Mrs. L doesn't do backward rides at all because of the same affects. Keep it up, and don't let the kids sentence you only to 'Small World.' That music lays me out.
You admirer, Lee

Re: Memaw and Mt. Everest: A Cautionary Tale and Fascinating Family Memory
I'll have to admit that Wyman did tell it the way it was, but the "small world" sentence won't stick just because they (not the grandchildren because they are perfect you know) tricked me into thinking Mt. Everest is just like Thunder Mountain. Foolish me. Thank goodness it was the last day. We had a great trip. Would love to see you and your family. By the way, I sang your praises to someone recently for such meaningful ministry when our boys were teenagers. I've never thanked you enough. Take care, Diane

Re: Memaw and Mt. Everest: A Cautionary Tale and Fascinating Family Memory
Dear Memaw,
I know we could have this exchange in person or on facebook, and the good Drs. Richardson may wish that I would. However, since you have posted your comments here, I feel it appropriate to respond likewise.
First, thank you for singing my praises to anyone about anything. I deeply appreciate it.
Second, whatever meaningful ministry I had with your offspring was merely an extension of the ministry you and Wade conducted within your family. To this day I still look to you and a few other families as positive examples for me to follow in raising my own children. I get much credit for the work I did while at Grace, but over the years I have noticed - and rightly so, in my opinion - that I was simply another piece of the puzzle that the Lord Jesus Christ was using to construct a beautiful picture of outstanding men and women who are now in faithful service to Him in various capacities.
My fleshly side, of course, wants to take as much credit as possible. But the truth is that on most occasions I had just enough wisdom to stay out of the way and once and awhile offer a little help here and there to the great work God had already established in your family.
So, in other words, thanks for the compliment Memaw. And right back at ya. You and Wade are the best!
In humble gratitude, Lee
PS: I'm sorry for the late reply. Just returned from another youth camp experience. Could somebody please tell me when I'll graduate from this expectation?

Lee,
I shall make sure that said Memaw sees this post. Very nice! Lee Herring played a pretty major part in the upringing of Wyman Richardson. In fact, I blame you for all my ticks.

Love you man! Seriously, you're the best.
