Re: "Contemporvent" and "Growtivation"
It's 10:47 pm on a Friday night, and I'm laughing my head off with this video. Funny stuff!! Thanks for posting it, Wym.

Dave,
If you're happy, I'm happy!

Re: "Contemporvent" and "Growtivation"
Will,
I thought the footage for this video was taken from one of your services? ;-)
Does this stuff fly over the ocean as well as it flies here?

Re: "Contemporvent" and "Growtivation"
It would some quarters. Most of my elderly congregation wouldn't get it, as for them the Methodist 'Hymn Sandwich' is all they've ever known (and some who believe that is the only proper form of worship). Among those who have encountered other forms of worship (or are familiar with American larger churches), yes, they would get it.
Very funny stuff!

Re: "Contemporvent" and "Growtivation"
Pastor Wyman,
The liturgy of contemporary evangelicals, right? ;)
This kind of satire is hilarious, but what's sad is that I've seen some things in real life that were done completely seriously that could have been intentionally modeled after this.

Re: "Contemporvent" and "Growtivation"
Though funny, this video is absolutely true in the majority of churches with Contemp. services. My young adult children hate the contemporary format and irreverantly have coined some words of their own: "Pray-ano" -- what the pianist plays to elicit an emotional response during the pastor's invitational prayer; "Guilt-ar" -- what's played as background during a personal testimony; "Cry-olins" - the strings added to the band (by way of synth) when you really want to hype the emotional respose!

Re: "Contemporvent" and "Growtivation"
Theresa,
That's one of the funnier things I've ever read! Mrs. Richardson and I just laughed aloud.
"Pray-ano" indeed! Love it!
