The first entry in our church minutes is from October 5, 1849. Yesterday, our church celebrated it's 160th anniversary. We are celebrating this Sunday by calling upon the church to come and sign the church covenant as a sign of unity, recommitment, and expectation. Here is a 1914 article from (I believe) The Dawson News about our church.

Re: 160 Years Ago, Yesterday
W,
Wow! What would I give to have that first paragraph reprinted in a current newspaper about today's churches?!
Thanks for the post, and congratulations to the First Family in Dawson! May you continue to broaden and deepen the lives of your community, making them better worth the living!
Yours, L

Re: 160 Years Ago, Yesterday
Lee,
Thanks man!
Yeah, that first paragraph is profound and I would love, too, to have it said today! (Of course - despite the obvious reason why it can't really be said today - there is the minor fact that nobody seems capable of writing like that anymore!)
Hope you're keeping Santa Fe between the lines! :-)

Re: 160 Years Ago, Yesterday
Thank you so much for the moving presentation of our local church's history during yesterday's service. The connection of the work and dedication of so many to the present day was powerful and moving. May we always look forward with a grateful glance to the past.

Thanks Paula! I'm glad you liked that. We're trying to get it put on DVD's for any members who want it.
God bless, Wyman
