So after the Southern Baptist Convention my dad, brothers, and I joined the Richardson women for a couple of days at Disney (where they had been all week).  On our last day at Disney, we went to Disney's Animal Kingdom.  Now, there's a ride at Animal Kingdom called "Expedition Everest" that is one of the fastest, coolest rides you'll ever ride.  But it is fast and it does go backwards for a time in the dark.  And, as we learned, my mom, or Memaw as she is better known to the Richardson squids, does not do fast-backwards-in-the-dark-roller-coasters very well.

I kid you not, I thought my mom might have to be buried down there!  She got really, really, really sick afterwards.  As in "wheelchair and eventually laying in the Animal Kingdom First Aid" sick.  And, trust me, I'm sparing you the less charming parts...though Memaw always manages to appear beautiful and graceful, even in the throws of public illness. :-)

But Memaw is a trooper and, after a couple of hours recuperating, she rallied.  Don't get me wrong, she rallied back at the hotel, laying down, but she was laughing about it by day's end and up-and-at-'em the next day.

As it turned out, I found an extra Expedition Everest fast-pass in my wallet when I returned, and I put together a little something in a frame for Memaw which she received in the mail yesterday.  I thought I'd share it here. (Incidentally, the picture of Memaw was taken the day after said tragic events.)

Well-done Memaw.  I'm glad we didn't have to bury you under a plastic Mt. Everest in Florida!  You're the best, but, from now own, it's strictly "It's A Small World" for you!

Well, I must admit I've never heard this one before!  Did C.S. Lewis structure the Narnia books around a Medieval planetary construct?  I'm not totally convinced, but I must say that N.T. Wright's summary of Michael Ward's thesis to this effect does give one pause.  Check it out...

For the last week of mornings I've been listening to Andrew Peterson while riding the stationary bike.  I've basically loaded my .mp3 player up with Peterson and have thoroughly enjoyed listening to his music.  I've enjoyed his music for a couple of years now, but I was reflecting this morning on what a truly great talent he is.  Furthermore, his lyrics never fail to delight and convict.

One of my favorites is his song "Family Man."  Here's a great video for that song.
